Our funeral services combine casework support, logistics (transport, mortuary liaison, burial or cremation arrangements), and optional memorial planning. We work with families, faith leaders, and local authorities to ensure that arrangements are handled quickly, respectfully, and in line with cultural or religious preferences.

Consolation Package (Basic)
Immediate practical support for low-cost funerals.

Logistics & Practicalities
Transport & Mortuary Liaison
We arrange dignified transport for the deceased and coordinate with mortuaries or hospitals. Transport services include pickup within the city and short-distance transfers. For long-distance transfers, additional logistics/fees may apply.
Documentation & Legal Steps
We help families collect and submit death certificates, burial permits, and other required paperwork. Awake can connect families to legal aid partners when there are estate or identification issues.
Religious & Cultural Accommodations
We respect religious rituals and cultural practices. Tell us your preferences during intake and we will coordinate faith leaders and culturally appropriate arrangements.
Timeline & Response
For urgent cases we aim to respond within 2 hours during hotline hours. Standard intake and planning conversations occur within 24 hours. Timelines vary with paperwork and external partner availability.
Grief Support & Aftercare
We provide immediate emotional support during intake and can refer families to trained counsellors, support groups, and longer-term mental health services. Aftercare includes a follow-up call and connection to community-based grief groups.

All requests are treated with confidentiality. If you require a translator or faith-specific liaison, tell the intake officer.
Eligibility & Subsidy
Funeral subsidies are means-tested and prioritise households in acute financial need, survivors of violence, and referrals from partner agencies. Families are expected to provide documentation where available; we assist when documents are missing.

Yes — Awake provides basic coffins/shrouds as part of the Consolation (Basic) package when needed. Families can also supply their own.

How long does a typical arrangement take?
We aim to arrange urgent transfers within hours. Full memorial coordination is typically completed within 24–72 hours depending on venue and third-party availability.
Is there emotional support for children?
Yes. We refer families to child-friendly counselling partners and provide age-appropriate grief resources.
